My first full-length release is out right now on Dirty Demos!

"Solo using guitar and sometimes a microphone, run through a mixing board and various electronics. 'Making Clocks' is a sweet display of sound textures, microsound and glitch. Think bleak, minimal and marvellous."

Six tracks, just short of an hour, exploring the quieter side of drones, loops and electroacoustics.

Available this very minute from:
Dirty Demos
Normans Records

Thanks to the folks from the Scaledown night in Soho, my solo set from 30th May is available to hear on LastFM, and will also appear for download right here in the next few days. Gratitude also to Sakura Sundays in High Wycombe and Bad Timing in Cambridge.

I'll be performing with the No Context trio at 60 Million Postcards, Bournemouth on 30th June courtesy of Forbidden Planet.

I'm on Myspace with tunes you won't hear anywhere else: myspace.com/onlygish

Another lovely review from Bhone:

Krayon Recordings Night in Bournemouth, 19th April

Upcoming Shows:

30th May: London, Scaledown. www.theorchestrapit.com
1st June: Nag's Head, High Wycombe with Dog Frog
11th June: Portland Arms, Cambridge
30th June: Sixty Million Postcards, Bournemouth

What a real band looks like: Reckno Photos

I've been doing a bit of recording...

Four brand new tunes of mine are now up for grabs - called "Ballan Wrasse", this short set comprises a combination of single-take loop guitar jams and some fun with field recordings. Some of these ideas have been road-tested at recent shows.

Works in progress:

The $un$hine Republic album is finished. Recorded by us ourselves, we've crushed the sound of a massive factory warehouse until the tapes stretched, split and melted. Thanks to Chris and Helen for their never-ending patience.

One of the outtakes from the first Beer Crew weekend is available right now for free on this site.

Jack Nicholson have been drinking again, and the results will be released at some point very soon thanks to Krayon and other labels. One full length record is finished, with loads more on the way.

$R November Tour / Sound-Art Event / Remix...

Check out Bad Acid magazine this month for a nice big interview with Sunshine Republic.

There's a review of my first solo show of many years right here: bhone.co.uk

The next Sunshine Republic busman's holiday takes place in November with the plan being...

7th London - Pool Bar
9th Birmingham - Sanctuary
10th Sheffield - Casbah
11th Glasgow - 13th Note
12th Leslie - Greenside Hotel
14th Lincoln - Horse & Groom
15th Bristol - The Junction
21st Brighton - Greenhouse Effect

Obviously this is all subject to change until it actually happens.

My next show will be 26th November - Forbidden Planet @ 60 Million Postcards, Bournemouth with Richie P

Music by me was heard as part of sound art event The Happening on 6th - 9th September at The Basement, 10-16 Ashwin St, London E8. The event also boasted:
Recorded music/installations by Dylan Nyoukis, Disinformation, Richard Crow, Yumi Hara and loads of others
Live improvisations/interactions that include Steve Beresford, Gina Southgate, Steve Noble, Sharon Gal, Adam Bohman and Toy Orchestra
An Hexaphonic Guitar will feature heavily in the various performances, with each string sent individually to seperate amplifiers in different rooms
A Feral Choir, lead by Phil Minton.

I have also completed a short remix of "Found Dead On The Shoreline" by Tim Holehouse - available at some point in the future as part of a split release between Tim and Japan's VeeDee.

Thanks to everyone involved in the 'Sunday School Project' on 26th August - an impressive all-dayer in an old church in Bournemouth, and especially satisfying given the area's recent venue problems. The day was an accessible mix of all things weird and wonderful. More of these events please.

Buy records!!!!

Buy a record!

Sunshine Republic - Ransack Your Mansack
CD
KR 030306

Sunshine Republic take 17 plus minutes to construct a wandering haze of wailing feedback, woozy vocals and assorted grrumble and clatter, eventually stumbling across the remains of a lurching, semi retarded groove, melting down inside a shitlined cave of intense amplifier chunder and blistered metal droning, hollowed out by righteous caveman sloth-stomp, get your stereo dimed and break out the bongs, this will put you in the ground.
£5+Postage

Sunshine Republic Beer Crew Round One
Exclusive Beer Club
KR 030205

$un$hine republic's stupidest idea yet. If you donate money into their beer fund they'll send you cd-rs and shit you wont be able to get at shows,
unless you bring them a 6 pack of stripe. 22 minutes of pure sunshine pant moistening.
£3+Postage

Black Guns / Gish Split
CDR
KR 040107

5 track cdr featuring individual contibutions from Gish and Jeff from Sunshine Republic. Three seperate offerings from Gish, framing mangled guitar, sourced voices and mouth noises, respectively, within a shroud of electronic whine and hiss. Black Guns two pieces book-ending the split set buzzing drones and clouds of noxious electronics over unstable foundations of field recordings, bowed cymbals and oscillators. Mo yuck for yo buck.
£4+Postage

All details, biogs and other balony can be found at the brand new Krayon website. www.krayonrecordings.net

More shows, more flyers...

The latest Sunshine Republic tour is taking shape, with the dates looking to be as follows:

29th May: Star & Garter, Manchester w/ Worried About Satan & Talibam!
1st June: Fiddler's Elbow, Chalk Farm London w/ Asteroid & Domes Of Silence
2nd June: Bull & Gate, Kentish Town London w/ Brenda
3rd June: Corporation, Sheffield w/ Brenda, Lair Of The Minotaur & Capricorns
4th June: King Edwards, Birmingham w/ Brenda
5th June: The Black Valve, Stoke w/ Brenda
6th June: Bar Blu, Rhyl - North Wales w/ Brenda & Capguns For Arcade
7th June: Dickie Doodles, Kendal w/ Brenda

Most of the shows will also feature our special friends Brenda investigating how many reverbs they can chain together in an asymmetric time signature with mega-stretch chords...

Our Sheffield shows seem to be becoming something rather unique - thanks mainly to the Team Tall / Ninehertz gang, and the 3rd June looks to be another potential classic, with SR and Brenda joined by Lair Of The Minotaur and Capricorns, with more TBC.
